Countdown — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 July 2026

The short version

Countdown does not collect, sell, or share your personal data. There are no analytics, no ads, and no trackers.

What the app stores

Your countdowns (names, dates, colors, optional place names and photos) are stored on your device. If you use iCloud sync or shared countdowns, that data is stored in your personal iCloud account under Apple's terms — we never see it.

Sync service

The app can sync countdown names and dates with its own backend so notifications can be delivered when the app is closed. This data is stored solely to provide that feature, is never shared with third parties, and is deleted when you delete the countdown.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, an anonymous device token is stored so countdown alerts can be delivered. This token identifies your device to Apple's push service only and is removed when it becomes invalid.

Places & photos

Typed place names are resolved to coordinates using Apple Maps and, for background imagery, nearby landmark photos are fetched from Wikipedia. Your device's GPS location is never accessed. Photos you attach stay on your device.
